Nutrition education and the promotion of healthy attitudes towards food are an important part of the care we provide for the children. A hot nutritious noon meal and two snacks (early morning and mid-afternoon) are provided daily for all children. As required by Health Canada and 2% M.F. milk as needed to toddler and preschool children at morning snack and lunch. Water will be served with the afternoon snack. Parents provide a water bottle, labeled with your child’s name, allowing ongoing access to water. Fresh fruit will also be available to the children at all times.

JHCCLC provides meals that follow the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide. Weekly menus are posted on the Family Information Board and any alternatives are noted. Peanuts and peanut products are not used in any food preparation at this Centre.

At least one staff member of JHCCLC will have successfully completed the examination based on York Region Public Health Ontario Ministry of Food Handler Training Protocol.

The supervisor must be alerted to any food allergies, sensitives or restrictions upon enrolment. Substitutions, to the best of our ability, will be made to accommodate your child’s needs. In the event your child has a life-threatening allergy then the policy addressing anaphylactic protocol must be followed.
